Airbnb Tech Jobs that Pay Over $275K

With it’s globally-oriented, open-minded culture, Airbnb is considered by many to be a top tech employer in the USA and around the world. Airbnb prides themselves on using technology to build human connection, and this ethos extends to their workplace, where creativity, autonomy, and teamwork are equally valued. Unlike other tech companies like Google, Airbnb’s perks and benefits are not quite as extensive, but that doesn’t mean they are not gracious to their employees. According to Paysa’s most current data, based on 772 employee profiles, the average Airbnb employee earns a staggering $254K in annual salary. The typical salary range is S194K to S317K per year. This includes an average base pay of S143K, annual equity of $111K a year, and a generous one-time signing bonus of $24K. (That should help with moving expenses to San Francisco!)

Diversity and Inclusion

Part of Airbnb’s ethos is creating a world where anyone can belong anywhere. With this in mind, they are continuously looking for ways to make their organization more diverse and inclusive. They pride themselves on increasing the representation of female and minority employees in technical and engineering jobs each year. According to Paysa data, about 37% of Airbnb employees are White, and 36% are Asian, while less than 1% are Black or African American. As far as gender is concerned, Airbnb still also has room for improvement. Just 21% of employees identify as female.

For those obsessed with travel and technology, Airbnb could be an ideal employer. But techies who are looking to get recruited by the world’s top network for hospitality and lodging should not expect a cakewalk. Airbnb is notoriously rigorous and selective in their recruitment process and will only choose talent that has the skills to hack it on the job while being an ideal cultural fit. According to insights shared with Business Insider, some of the strangest interview questions one can expect to hear might include the following:

“How would you be able to survive a plane crash?”

“If you could give a TedTalk, what would it be about?”

“What would your peers/ex-coworkers say is the biggest misconception about you?”

“A customer calls and says there is almost pornographic photos in their host’s home. They feel very uncomfortable and these photos were not represented in the Airbnb listing. How can you help the guest?”

“If you had to teach me a certain skill, what would it be?”

“What food that you recently had made you emotional?”

“How do you feel about monotonous, boring tasks?”

“What was your worst travel moment? What happened?”

“How do you cut a round cake into 8 equal pieces using just 3 strokes of a knife?”

Besides this, most would say that the interview process is quite standard about 85% of the time. Unlike most companies that will make you wait for weeks (or even months) before letting you know if you have another interview, many say that they hear back within a matter of hours after their initial phone screening.
