LinkedIn recently introduced its Top Attractors list, an unprecedented look at the companies where people most want to work – and where they stick around once they get in the door. It’s a tech-heavy list, so it naturally got us thinking: how does the list look when you rank by pay? Which of these companies pays the most, and which pays least?
For example, Google tops LinkedIn’s list of the most desirable employers, but do they rank No. 1 for pay?
These questions gave us an opportunity to test drive a new tool to help you guide your career. Our new SalaryRank algorithm, which includes base salary, bonus and equity for tech jobs, rolled into an interactive tool that allows you to rank the best and worst companies for tech salaries in the US.
Below are the top 10 companies who pay their tech workers the most in the US.
As of this writing, only four of LinkedIn’s top 10 talent attractors rank in our top 10 by tech worker pay, including Uber, Airbnb, Facebook and Twitter, in that order. Google ranks 16th.
Out of the top 100 companies Paysa has listed in its report, here are the bottom 10, ranked by tech worker pay:
You can also use SalaryRank to run company-by-company comparisons (check out the top searches so far: Tesla Motors vs. Apple, Microsoft vs. LinkedIn, Facebook vs. Google and Uber vs. Lyft), or drill down geographically to the companies writing the biggest tech worker paychecks in a particular market, like Austin.
To arrive at SalaryRank we leveraged the large-scale salary data and machine learning that powers the Paysa platform. Total salaries for tech talent are computed across all salary components including base, bonus, equity and signing bonus. Salary rank is computed across the entire US as well as for top metro areas in tech.
Looking to get more specific in your salary searches? The Paysa platform allows you to drill down further, including cuts by company and job title. Check out the salary profiles for the top three best paying companies for tech jobs: Uber, Pinterest and Airbnb.
You can also check out our Paysa Company Rank tool to find out which companies currently have the best tech talent, how that has shaken out over time, and how different companies stack up by the quality of their workforce.
